1. Why do we need to buff the nail surface smooth?
Answer: If the nail surface isn't smooth, it will be uneven, and even if you apply gel polish, it will peel off. Buffing the nail surface with a sponge makes the bond between the nail and base gel stronger, increasing the lifespan of the manicure.
2. Does the base gel have to be applied thinly? Can it be thick?
Answer: The base gel must be applied thinly, not thickly. If the base gel is too thick, it can shrink, causing the gel polish to easily detach from the nail. If you have a customer with thin nails, you can apply a strengthening layer before the base gel.
3. What are the benefits of applying a bonding agent before the base gel?
Answer: The bonding agent removes excess oil from the nail surface, making it drier, which allows the gel polish to adhere more tightly and reduces the chance of peeling. Additionally, wiping the nail surface with non-oily nail polish remover before applying gel polish has a similar effect, but the bonding agent (also called a drying agent or pH balancing solution) works best.
4. Can a no-wipe top coat be used on removable gel surfaces?
Answer: No. A no-wipe top coat can crack and is not suitable for removable gel surfaces, which can lead to gel polish peeling off. It's recommended to use a wipe-off top coat for better stability. (You can also apply a wipe-off top coat or strengthening gel, cure it for a minute, and then apply a no-wipe top coat or a hard top coat for longer-lasting shine.)
5. Why can't color gel be applied thickly?
Answer: The correct method is to apply two thin layers of solid color (the color must be saturated) to avoid wrinkling, especially with black.
6. Is there anything to pay attention to when applying the top coat?
Answer: The top coat shouldn't be too much or too little. If the top coat is applied too little or too much, it won't be shiny. After curing, you can touch the back of your finger to check if it's smooth.
7. Can we skimp on the gel cleaning solution?
Answer: No. You shouldn't skimp on the cleaning solution; it's essential as a nail care product. Using enough cleaning solution is necessary to clean the surface residue properly (wipe after curing for about 10 seconds) to make the nails shinier and prevent the top coat from cracking.
